BIOSCIENCES: CAREER ORIENTATION EVENT FOR HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS AT BRFAA

We co-organized “Biosciences: Open your mind – Change your world”, a career orientation event for 171 high-school students and 24 teachers, from 13 schools across Athens, Piraeus, Thiva and Chalkida.

During their five-hour visit, at the premises of the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens (BRFAA) on March 4th 2015, students were exposed to the world of biosciences, through scientific lectures, discussions, laboratory visits, experiment demonstrations, use of microscopes/stereoscopes, interactive games, motivational talks and researchers’ life stories.

They were inspired.
They experienced how innovative research is conducted.
They interacted with the researchers.
They discovered new career prospects.
They triggered their creative curiosity.
They broadened their perspective.

Flow Athens co-produced the event, curated the pedagogical aspect, organized the interactive learning games and offered a motivational talk.

The event was funded by the European Commission, in the context of the Knowledge Dissemination Work-package of research project NEURINOX FP7, by partners University of Athens and Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens.
