A MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS AT NEURINOX SYMPOSIUM - TORINO

43 students (PhD, MSc, BSc and High-school) were invited from 6 countries and 6 universities to attend the NEURINOX Symposium and General Assembly in Torino.
NEURINOX is a European biomedical research consortium with 13 institutions from 12 countries, including University of Athens and Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens. NEURINOX aims to identify novel drug targets for neurodegenerative diseases such as epilepsy, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and multiple sclerosis.

Flow Athens designed and facilitated a 4-day programme of educational activities for students, supporting a two-fold goal.

1. To promote knowledge dissemination towards a younger audience by encouraging the students:
a. To actively engage in the symposium.
b. To understand the basics of neurodegenerative diseases.
c. To interact with researchers, patient representatives and their peer students.

2. To create a rich and meaningful experience for the participating students, supporting them to cultivate transferrable skills and competencies, also known as 21st century skills, such as:
a. To collaborate in multicultural, multidisciplinary groups.
b. To gain hands-on experience with a variety of digital narration tools.
